Macau hotel rooms up 20% Y/Y in Q1

Macau's hotel accommodation rate in the first quarter was tallied at 84.8% in approximately 47,000 rooms. This was its best performance since 85.4% in the third quarter of last year, with 45,693 rooms.

Year-on-year, the number of hotel rooms in Macau's market was 19.6% higher in the first three months of 2024, compared with 38,995 in the first quarter of 2023. This follows data released on Monday by Macau's statistics office. 파워볼사이트

Results for the first quarter of 2024 show that a total of 141 hotels increased by 15 compared to the same period last year.

The 84.8% share for the quarter was up 9.9% points year-over-year.

Daily room rates for five-, four- and three-star hotels rose 12.9 percentage points, 8.4 percentage points and 1.7 percentage points, respectively, year-on-year.

Hotel guest numbers rose 39.7% year-on-year to nearly 3.78 million in the first quarter. The figure represents an 8.4% increase over the same period in 2019, before the pandemic, according to the Office for National Statistics.

In the three months to March 31, hotel guests from major markets in mainland China rose 40.1% year-on-year to nearly 2.82 million.

The bureau said the average guest stay was steady at 1.7 nights year-on-year, but "up 0.2 nights compared to the first quarter of 2019."
